Martial Science

My turn to call it

04/04/07 SlimX: “The excessive use of paladins in the arena has shown, if anything, that healing is too powerful in PvP and even more ways to counter it should be introduced.”

08/25/07 World of Raids: “Finally they talked about Hunters, Blizzard is considering a Woodworking profession (hunters will be able to create their own arrows), and a Mortal Strike-like shot that will reduce healing effectiveness on the target of the shot

Thanks for letting us know

Just so it is on record, Blizzard just weakened sword spec, smashed down a big nerf to WF and secretly nerfed haste rating by 50% while buffing caster haste, largely based on forum chatter re a couple DPS logs from a single Rogue who has the best gear possible in the game.

Hibernation may come soon.

Get out your bags of frozen peas, uber guilders

Whoever gets this plays a lot, probably too much, and it will be a warrior Dbag, probably the MT of some DB guild

Warlock: The glancing blow change took DPS a bit too far in my opinion. There was no question that the glancing blow rate needed tweaking before 2.1, but it’s just too far now considering that rogue DPS scales better then caster DPS on the high end.

Warlock: If a rogue can do 2000 dps single target sustained obviously something is wrong. Seems like melee haste needs a nerf. In all honesty there is no reason it should be budgeted so much lower than spell haste as it,

A. Doesn’t hit global cooldown
B. Doesn’t increase rage/energy usage like it does for mana

Shaman: So no, DPS classes are not balanced. Melee is taking off like a rocket due to the difference between haste ratings.

Warlock: Several things have happened at the high end to disfavor casters. I’ll talk about warlocks specifically since I know them best.

Warlock: Perhaps this was needed, as locks were outdpsing rogues by a ridiculous margin at the high end preBT, but I’d argue the situation hasn’t quite reversed itself, but is getting close.

Level 51: It does seem a bit unbalanced atm, but keep in mind there are several things that keep this well within the realms of “fairness.”

1. Melee Haste Rating was left unchanged because it ONLY affects Melee White Damage. It does not increase energy regenerations except indirectly through a 40 point combat talent and not all that drastically. Casting haste increased EVERYTHING. To put things in perspective, white damage is only about 50 - 60% of a Rogue’s damage.

2. Rogues are still only single target damage. They are melee. They take more damage than casters. Very rarely are they allowed to stay in the entire fight like casters.

3. Rogues require a very stacked group to do said damage. A lot of group buffs are applicable to Rogues, and they need them to do their damage.

4. The massive steaming !!*% that TBC took on melee at the start of the expac. Rogues damage was fairly low, and were frequently instagibbed. Rogues were considered a detriment in heroics. Fights were so melee unfriendly it was bordering on preposterous. Rogues were not allowed at any “first kills.” Casters had craftable tier 5 available to them. Just because they were redonkulously bad at the start does not mean that they should stay bad. When casters are told to take a hike on progression nights much like Rogues were at the start of TBC, then I’ll see reason to worry. Until then, quit your %!!%#ing. I’m back to levelling my happy little mana and health battery.

Ssen(Not in thread): Ranged magic users demanding to be #1 DPS make me laugh. As far back as I remember Blizz said Rogues were meant to be #1 single target DPS. GTFO.
