Posted about the instance select lag. Only one guy responds. Maybe people don’t realize it’s related to the mouse selection and complain about it being general chop, or maybe we are the only 3 people to get this problem. I don’t think the latter is likely…

Any time a new patch is released, all UI mods (such as Cosmos) stop working. A simple fix to get Cosmos working on any new patch (without waiting for a new version or losing your settings) is to update all of the .toc files in the Interface folder.

You can do this manually, but this exe: www.xs4all.nl/~avj/WoWUpd.exe cuts the entire process down to a few seconds. Just input the new build number to update all the files. The build number is found in parenthesis at the bottom-left of the log-in screen.

To avoid losing your settings, let WoW run after patching, note the build number (this patch is 4150), then tell it not to delete your Interface folder and WoW will quit. Use the TOC updater with the new build number and voila. Run WoW again and Cosmos will be working again, including all of your old settings.

Looks ok, not that many things though. Also they list Vanish change as if it is a balance change and not a bug fix which it is.

I always wondered what the “must have” food or potion would be for high level Rogues. Perhaps a food that increases AGI, but those haven’t been put in yet. Then I figured some sort of AGI potion, but those seem kinda ho hum. Just now browsing the AH I saw a recipe I don’t think I ever even heard of on thottbot. I didn’t buy this because there was no buyout and ended up not seeing when the auction ended. Hopefully I can find another one listed when I get easier access to the herbs needed to make them.

Says Tyren. I can’t imagine spending 30 mins to form a good instance group, taking 1-2 hours getting to the boss, eating some kind of add or whatever and dying, then not getting the needed item. They went to such lengths to make death only have a modest sting, but this type of quest death penalty is insane in my opinion. I wonder if Tyren is truly quoting the will of the devs…

Wandered into the Blasted Lands and nabbed some Gromsblood, saw lots of ??? level mobs and also noticed this named scorpion. The scorpions in this zone were so much bigger than the ones back near the starting Orc lands I was used to. I checked this guy out on thottbot and it didn’t list him for retail and his beta drop list didn’t include any blues so I assume people haven’t seen what this thing really drops. Maybe we can hunt it some day.

Allakhazam just added a talents tab to their profile system, and it shows live trees of your character’s talents. This works similar to Cosmos, after you finish your WOW for the day, just run the app (Wowreader) and click an “Upload” button. This sends all of your current data and findings to their databases, thus updating your profile. You will need to have an account with them, but it’s free so make sure to signup sometime. Here is the link for learning how to install.

Stumbled upon this freeware ap, tested it out and it works pretty nice. Basically you just open a batch convert session and find all your stock WOW .tga screens, then click start and it will convert all of them into .jpg. Might be useful at times.

I’m pretty surprised to hear this but think it was a very nice move by Blizzard. Sends a very strong message about their stance on cheating in WOW.
