• Steady Shot – now only gains 10% of attack power as damage (down from 20%).
• Volley – reduced the damage by about 30% for all ranks. Note that AE damage from many classes is very high right now and we are looking at all of them. Volley in particular had reached the point where some hunters were using it to the exclusion of most other attacks.
• Readiness – no longer affects the cooldown of Bestial Wrath.
• Deterrence – has been completely overhauled. It now allows you to deflect 100% of incoming melee or spell damage for 5 seconds, but prevents you from attacking while active. You still must be facing the attacker to deflect the damage (this is a limitation we are trying and might end up removing). 60 sec cooldown.
• Kill Shot – cooldown reduced to 15 sec (from 35 sec).
• Kindrid Spirits – now only grants 3/6/9/12/15% pet damage.
• Serpent’s Swiftness – now only grants 2/4/6/8/10% bonus attack speed to pet.
• All hunter pet abilities with a cooldown longer than 30 sec have been moved off the global cooldown.
• Growl— threat generation increased by 20% (same for Voidwalker Torment).
• Call of the Wild – now benefits only the hunter and his or her pet.
• Rake and Scorpid Poison – slightly nerfed to bring them into line with other pet abilities.
• Spirit Strike – reduced the period on the dot so it will work better with Longevity.
• Improved Tracking – now benefits damage to all included creature types as long as you are tracking one of them. You don’t have to swap around what you are tracking as much.
• Aspect of the Wild – now raid-wide.

This was 25 man normal. I looked at all the top WWS and I didn’t see any 4500 Rogues. I was basically higher than the top Rogue on the #1 kill. How the hell are these other Rogues cranking out 5,000 dps with Ass/Com/Sub?

It started with a lone Rogue and a fishing pole. A young undead Cambodian came by to investigate and joined in, gave me some company.  Another guy came buy and lit a fire. I noticed people riding by on mount actually turning, stopping and looking as if this sight was so different it had to be taken in. It may have been the most genuine moment of in game bonding I have seen since 2004.

Just saw this up on the AH for 1000/1200, thought about it for a few minutes and nabbed it. I like items with interesting procs and effects, and this fits the bill. Procs a lot, I once had a 3 stack going like 3 seconds into a fight. I am liking it a lot so far.

WoW’s Achilles’ heels are the horrid/boring itemization, the oversimplified stat system and their outright failure to upkeep/update both of them professionally as the game gets older and evolves in other areas.

Let’s see, I can choose 17 AGI 24 ATP 7 Hit or I can use a 19 AGI 20 ATP 8 Hit item! Such an exciting choice for players! Actually it is digusting, they barely show a pulse capable of breaking this paradigm, and I feel that they will always take the easy balance way out due to many years of RTS patching and the fact that PVP exists in WoW.

They need to start taking some bigger risks, unlink PVP/PVE balance and put in more interesting items/procs/tradeskills/class traits in the style of past console and PC RPGs. The Night Blade was a decent example of such design. No stats, pure proc, an interesting and fun proc that went off a lot, useful, powerful, rare on the AH, talked about, argued about, expensive, impressive to own.

The result? Item is completely trashed three months after the expansion is released. Give a few weeks for many people to hit 70, give a few more weeks for some to start showing up via grinding and instance running, and basically right as people started to use this dagger Blizzard got angry and snatched it away.

Unacceptable. The spammed rhetoric, rumors and mass hysteria that the dagger crushed everything in the game including SSC and beyond daggers was never fully proven. Legions of Malcha/Ripper scrubs came to applaud the nerf, simply because it would make them sleep better at night, not even realizing that identical Blizzard behavior could easily come to beartrap them in the future.

In response to the many TNB posts there has been absolute silence from Blizzard. Casters went nuts after the tailoring stuff was nerfed (and rightly so), and the changes were instantly reverted. There has not been one blue comment related to the nerf of TNB at all. Good game cowards.

To the people who love the nerf of TNB: Stop being so defensive about your current gear and character and be more objective. Realize the broader picture of balance and itemization and take a few moments to think about how many items you actually relish using. Is it many? I doubt it and in fact I think the only thing people do these days is hit C and look to see how many blues they still need to replace with purples. Everyone in the game strolling around like a RE1 zombie.

To Blizzard: It is by your own hand that you are required to fill up massive loot tables, stop tossing out stale bread to the players. It is one thing to blow your load of items by 2007, it is quite another to never put in interesting items in the first place because you are too scared or lazy to balance them properly. If I see another dagger with a random spray of STA/AGI/ATP I think I might burst a vein.

To the theory that a BoE should never be better than a raid item: Arbitrary to the max. This seems to be a popular opinion and it really needs to gtfo. I realize that many of you out there feel very good about yourself and the fact that your guild can kill Kara bosses. Get off your cloud, prags. Not allowing farmers to mass purples by hiding them in instances is good. Not allowing ebay freaks to buy full sets of gear by hiding it in raid instances is good. Not allowing a skilled solo or small guild player to invest in a sweet mainhand to match all his other choice picked BLUES is just flat out sickening to me.

With the servers down my Rogue and her daggers are in server limbo, and once the patch is live this combination of slice will likely never be seen again. I am pouring out some cranberry juice tonight for my friend The Night Blade, because soon he will be retired for good. I care not about the money I spent, I care not about finding a replacement, I am just sad to see him go. The Night Blade meet Barman Shanker, you both will be sharing bank bag 5 for the duration.

I can’t really recall how many painful UBRS runs I did with noobs for the longshot chance at the chest dropping, but when it finally did I was ever so content. In expected fashion, soon after acquiring the sleeveless garb Blizzard changed it to a purple mess. POS placeholder gear the likes of this (I liked it though) may not ever see the light of day in the game again due to their content release schedule, so at least it’s nice to have experienced this early period in the game.

At last we have full disclosure on the racial abilities for Blood Elf and Draenei priests come the expansion — or at least unconfirmed rumor from beta testers on the World of Raids forums. I am somewhat disappointed, though, having hoped the addition of new priest-available races would give Blizzard an opportunity to equalize the racial abilities across the factions — as currently the Dwarf’s Fear Ward ability makes some difficult raid encounters much simpler. So when it was announced that priests would have one old and one new racial ability, I had hoped to see a horde priest with Fear Ward. But instead, Blood Elves will receive Touch of Weakness (not a bad self-buff for soloing or PvPing) and the Draenei will receive Fear Ward (no explanation required). Well, perhaps we’ll see fewer raid encounters in the future in which fear plays a large part.

Update: Eyonix responds to the issue of racial abilities by saying (among other things), “there will be new ways (for both factions) to remove and/or prevent fear in the Burning Crusade. So, in short — lay down that crutch, you don’t need it anymore.”

After living in denial for more than a year like some meth addict, Blizzard finally raises the white flag and puts in a LFG system. Bravo comes to mind, but it’s not as good as it could have been. Forcing players to seek on whatever class they are currently on is lame. Let players select which character they want to seek with, either via custom drop downs, or a drop down of their alts (to prevent fakers).

Keep in my mind I was in Org when this chat took place, and there’s no chat stamps but his first reply was like 5-10 minutes after I first sent a tell. I think a better spot to meet would have been way down deep at the last nub of that furbolg talon den in NE starting area.

After a couple minutes of practice, I was able to use the jump macro to go wherever I wanted. After climbing BRM, I fooled around in LBRS for a bit (could use the macro to reach UBRS without the key, if desired) and then hearthed back to Org to give it a rest.

A minute or two later, I was disconnected from the server and got a World Server Down when I tried to log back on. Checked the Agg forums and there was a comment on the server going down, so I was relieved to realize it wasn’t just me. Logged back on a couple minutes later and had no problems.

After another couple of hours, I went outside Org to play with the macro some more. Upon clicking it only once, I was instantly kicked from the server. Logged back on, hit it again: same result. Although I can’t say for certain, my flagrant abuse of the macro, a short server downtime, then the macro causing a classic server kick on use is a pretty big coincidence. If I single-handedly screwed over an entire server of farmers, then I have to be a bit proud.

Manually clicking the Logout button then immediately jumping still allows you to float, but you can’t move and canceling the Logout box causes you to fall. Still a fun trick to surprise people and takes no scripting at all — just old fashioned timing.

Unbuffed.

We were first introduced on Stormreaver, a chance meeting while I was levelling. I kept the mysterious blossoms safe ever so delicately in my backpack until such a time I deemed worthy to spend them, my first BRD run on Urien. This initial relationship was short-lived, for the land of Felwood was indeed a dangerous place to farm back then.

Our bond rekindled on Aggramar, where I was free to run like the wind and gather as many as I could. Over time we found new and better ways to gather more and more, and the sweet flowers always fought to stay alive for our pending harvests. Double and team gathering was truly the pinnacle of the Felwood consumable experience, and the dawn of patch 1.9 killed it forever.

I shall never stop plucking the bounty of this mystical forest, but it will never quite be the same and I must say a part of me is now dead inside.

Fix your motherfucking game.

I was waiting for a NDB to respawn near the water elementals. There were a couple of flagged alliance nearby, so I think he was telling me to help him kill them. I didn’t respond to any of his whispers and, apparently, that bothered him.

Previous ZG runs had been done on days after MC, usually without a lot of the main people. This was our first actual organized run, and we beat the whole thing.

New ranks should be good stuff. The question is, are they 20 man or 40 man drops. If they are 20 man which I am guessing they are, AQ becomes a massive priority over ZG, and something I would be VERY serious about doing.

Poor guy was standing around waiting for it to spawn for like 10 minutes, killing only the creeps in reach. Right as it appeared he ran forward, but it was too late I had already harvested it. I did wait around and he was still there for the next one, so I pointed at it right before it spawned and let him have it.

Logged on this morning and as usual went right to Rare > Misc. in search of my elusive ace. It was there?! Oh snap. I saw the price, 500G. I don’t even remember what the bid was at, I think 400-something. I just gave it a second thought for like 2 seconds, and nabbed it. In order to appease Ebenezer I look at the gold loss in the following way:

500 - 300(Elem Ace) - 40(Smoking Heart recipe) - 50(Fiery recipe) - 20(Various mats sales) = 90G Ace of Beasts

The aquisition of the other cards has begun, including trips to the Alliance AH. Once I get it made I can finally start some hardcore testing with it.

Numbers for the Rags fight only. I’m not sure of the range at which stops calculating, but it’s pretty obvious the crazy low numbers were in general DPS healers who were in a completely different spot from me. The big exception is Illithion who was a MT healer and close to me. This shows both good healing and how much consumables can push up numbers when used correctly.

First UBRS run with Kivi, still in mostly greens and older AH blues. Multiple other damage meters from other players (while the exact numbers weren’t the same, of course) all had me at 3rd. Of course, if some of the better rogues I know had been in the group, it would have pushed my number down a bit.

Oh, and just so that listed #1 rogue doesn’t get a big head, here’s the listing from Termina’s most recent UBRS run:

After months of MC and weeks and weeks of frustrating failures, we finally got him. Our best attempt was 18%, then next week it was 6%, today a 2% first attempt and then we killed him the next try. Felt good.

Not simply content to bum said paper from a friend, he toiled week after week, gathering sprout after sprout until he could gather no more. What we have here is gg rolling into town and buying a necklace for 1.4G and reselling it within a couple hours for 15G. My bid was while the item was on short, you know, a surprise kinda thing.

Sure the Horde AH has some resellers, but from the looks of the Alliance AH it runs rampant over there. Having to look over 10 of the same item at obviously relisted prices every day would drive me insane. I’m glad that’s not my normal AH. Also notice the prices on the shadow recipe. That is pretty much a 25G lock over on our side, sometimes even closer to 40 or 50. But only 6G? Looks like the Alliance gold farmers grind those two EPL spots like a mutha.

Was it a lone juice or a ragged bolt of cloth? Ah well it’s not important.

This is with gear I would say I’m 15%-20% satisfied with, probably less actually. I’ve refined my consumable chugging quite a bit and when I finally get my hands on some better rings/trinkets and some other 60 level blues/purples my efficiency should be like when Doc Brown’s red log explodes in Back to the Future 3.

As for what I left in that battered box, tis not important, for the chest itself lived on. And he who stumbled upon the scene some time thereafter was most certainly intrigued by the spectacle that lay before him. No one is safe…

Basically there is a caster creep outside BRS that has a +80~ fire resist buff that lasts around an hour. You can MC it and buff people. Pretty neat.

Yeah, so I switched back to Combat. The reasons for this decision are available upon request.

Fucker messages me and then tries to demand a buff, so what does he get? That’s right a level 60 gets a nice fat Rank 1 MotW for a grand total of 25 armor. He actually thanked me after, obviously not seeing the buff tip that fast. I was in STV at the time, probably around level 30 or 35.

The Undead soldiers in SFK all spam some “periodic skill reduction” debuff, giving you -100 to tons of weapon skills.

I didn’t take the screen after resting, that was my HP/MP right after the fight.

I watched the AH for a few days and didn’t see any Frost Oils, so I started up my operation listing one at a time. Later that day this is what I found.

Made me laugh, even though I don’t hate on Paladins for shield/hearth, that’s a Horde thing I guess.

Got one of the worst world drop purples in the game and turned it into one of the best via the AH. I don’t know who bought that ring for 150G (142G profit to me after fees), and I don’t know who I outbid to get the Stockade Pauldrons for 116G. However, to both of them I can only say, “That’s a shame.”

I have to admit, it gave me a certain sense of closure. Anyway, I gave it to a shaman in the guild. I hope she enjoys it.

Max damage for max rank Eviscerate is 984. I have two points in Improved Eviscerate bringing the maximum possible damage up to 1082. There are no other talents or abilities that affect Evis (Lethality has no effect on Evis crits). So, the maximum possible damage my Evis can do on a crit to an enemy with ZERO armor is 2164. Smolderthorn Shadow Hunters are elites in LBRS. This one was lvl 57. WTF?

I left in the top part of the log to show that I had already used Evasion and it was no longer active.
